Faith Like Potatoes

By July 20, 2010Announcements

We had a kids movie night and now it’s time for something for the grown ups.  This Friday, July 23, at 7PM, we will be showing the movie, Faith Like Potatoes.  Yeah, we had never heard of it either but it’s won a bunch of awards and it’s a great indie film from South Africa that’s based on an amazing and inspiring true story.

It’s about a Zambian farmer of Scottish heritage who leaves his farm in the midst of political unrest and travels south with his family to start a better life. With nothing more than a caravan on a patch of land, he struggles to settle in a new country.  Faced with ever mounting challenges, hardships and personal turmoil, he quickly spirals down into a life consumed by anger, fear and destruction.  After an encounter with God, however, his life turns around and we get to see this moving life journey of a man who, like his potatoes, grows his faith, unseen until the harvest.

Oh yeah.  Did we mention that we’ll watch your kids for you in KidZone while you’re enjoying the film?  Yep, childcare is free but you must register each child.  (BTW, this is not a kid friendly movie and no kids will be allowed in the auditorium for the showing.)
